SIYAMTHANDA MPC ADVOCACY
As Siyamthanda MPC advocacy program we strive to identify areas where TB services are
inadequate or non-existent mobilise communities to be TB competent and implement TB
effective services, care and support services to inspire PWTB by giving hope and better the
community through advocacy for PWTB.
OBJECTIVES
To bridge gaps between facilities and communities o To advocate for better services in the public sector o To bridge relations in the communities between the health sector and community especially (PWTB)
PROGRAM OPERATIONS
As a program we targeted to work the whole of Gert Sibande, identify and intervene in issues which specifically affect the PWTB (People with TB).
CURRENT PROGRESS
In Mkhondo Municipality we addressed issues such staff attitude, TB defaulters
in Phola Park clinic and in Amsterdam Clinic we addresses an issue of Stock-out.
o Govan Mbeki faced challenges such as discrimination towards PWTB and long
waiting time and lack of shelters in the waiting area in Sead Clinic.
We currently working with Msukaligwa and Lekwa which face almost similar situations such
as long waiting time, poor or lack of communication, poor administration which leads
massive loss of files and stock-out in Lillian Mambakazi Clinic which is in Lekwa and MN
Cindi Clinic which is in Msukaligwa
Most of our efforts pertaining to this program involve studying new approaches and developing innovative ways to implement them. We evaluate our success in this field by gathering qualitative and quantitative data, and using that information to measure shifts and changes from our baseline measurements.
